RBK coach Kjetil Rekdal hits back at criticism from supporters’ club Kjernen – news Trøndelag

– I understand some of the frustration. That we have few points and that it has been a slow start to the season, says RBK coach Kjetil Rekdal. – But I have been surprised by a number of things. Attempt to spread “stories” about different things; that we do not want to attack, and are only concerned with the defensive. That is completely wrong. Norway’s most successful football club has struggled this season. On Monday, they suffered their fourth loss when Brann won 3-1 over them, and after nine games the club only has nine points and 11th place in the table. A low point also came last week when Rosenborg barely managed to beat the 4th division team Trygg/Lade 1-0. Supporter club Kjernen therefore went out on Monday and demanded that Kjetil Rekdal and co-coach Geir Frigård must leave. In the justification, they write that they experience a team in survival mode, rather than playing offensive football. This causes Rekdal to react. – I think the professional justification was a bit special. That the leader in Kjernen lays out what he thinks is good and not good – mostly only negative things, and states how we want to play, without documentation – I think that is special, he says in a press conference after training on Wednesday. – But you are allowed to say what you want. Many people have views, and we have to live with that. No drama around board meeting Rekdal and Frigård have been called to a board meeting in RBK on Wednesday evening. In advance, there has been a lot of speculation about whether this will be a fateful meeting for the coaches. However, Rekdal denies that there is any drama behind it. The meeting has been planned for many weeks, but is wrongly described as a crisis meeting, where they have been called in to answer for poor results, he believes. He therefore does not expect that there will be any special outcome from this board meeting. – There will be a review of the past, and a discussion about the future. It is natural, says Rekdal. – As a coach, you are called to board meetings regularly. I met with the board many times last year as well. Then gives feedback on the state of things, what we envision and want. Then it is up to the board whether they are able to give us what we need.
