In April of this year, the police received a report from a company that, in connection with other work, had come across a freezer that was lying at the bottom of the sea, in Sagfjorden in Hamarøy. The freezer is located in the same municipality where the police have an ongoing investigation in connection with the disappearance of Stian Hole. There is no other evidence to link the case to Stian Hole’s disappearance, apart from the fact that it is located in the same municipality from which he is missing, says police attorney Torje Imøy. But the investigation has not clarified why the freezer is there or what it contains. – There can be many reasons why a freezer ends up at the bottom of the sea. We have investigated the circumstances surrounding the freezer to find answers to who it belongs to, why it is there and how it ended up there. But all the while the police have not found anyone who can give a plausible explanation, so we need to know for sure what it contains. It is important for society’s sense of justice and not least for the next of kin to be confident that the police follow up on all leads that may lead to the case being solved and that the next of kin get answers, says Imøy. The police, together with a hired company that has the necessary equipment, will raise the freezer, which is located at approx. 250 m deep, Thursday 21 November.
