The apparent threat came in a phone call shortly before the invasion on February 24, 2022, according to a new BBC documentary to be broadcast on Monday. Johnson and other Western leaders had rushed to Kyiv to show support for Ukraine and try to deter a Russian attack. – He threatened me at one point and said: Boris, I don’t want to hurt you, but with a rocket it would only take a minute, says Johnson. According to the former prime minister, Putin had a relaxed tone when he made the threat, and Johnson interpreted him as trying to play along with the attempts at negotiation.
