A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were sent to hospital. The blood samples taken from the deceased show metonitazen content. Metonitazen is a synthetic morphine-like substance. It is 100 times stronger than morphine, and also stronger than fentanyl. No forms of metonitazen are legally in use in Norway. – We do not know what form the substance is taken in. It comes in many forms. The police now fear that it is in circulation in several places in the country. – Considering that metonitazen is the most frequently seized opiate in Europe at the moment, there is reason to fear that it is in circulation in Norway, says Kjellesvig. The police attorney explains that the strong substance can quickly lead to an overdose. – We see poisoning, respiratory arrest, overdose and death from use. In May, Kripos told TV 2 that there had been two seizures of metonitazen in Norway previously. – It takes very small amounts to produce intoxication, overdose and overdose deaths, said section leader for drug analysis Kari Frey Solvik.
