12 April 2023 at 11:28 Extended detention for guest researcher charged with espionage The guest researcher charged with espionage PST believes to be from Russia is detained for four new weeks with a ban on letters and visits. The man himself says his name is José Assis Giammaria (37) and is Brazilian, but the Norwegian police believe he is a Russian citizen named Mikhail Valeriyevich Mikushin (44). Mikushin is linked to the military Russian intelligence service GRU. He worked as a visiting researcher at UiT – Norway’s Arctic University in Tromsø before he was arrested and charged with espionage by PST on 24 October last year.
