Princess Ingrid Alexandra jumped by parachute – news Norway – Overview of news from various parts of the country

When the princess turned 18 last year and was asked what was at the top of her “bucket list” – a list of things one dreams of doing – she answered bluntly: – To jump with a parachute. Now she can cross it off the list. When Princess Ingrid Alexandra turns 19 today, the Palace publishes new photos of her. One picture was taken at home in Skaugum before Christmas last year. The castle is now publishing, among other things, this new photo of the princess, taken in December. From a height of 20,000 feet, corresponding to over 6,000 meters, the princess threw herself together with soldiers from the Armed Forces’ special command (FSK) at Rena, according to the Palace. Already over a year ago, in November 2021, the princess visited the Hunting Squad at FSK’s headquarters in Rena. That time she jumped from a twelve meter high jumping tower, where the soldiers train for parachute jumping. – There was no hesitation, she went straight out and had a terrific jump, said an impressed colonel and head of FSK, Lars Lilleby, afterwards. The princess was also excited and said after jumping from the jumping tower that she thought it was great fun and that she wanted to go skydiving for real. Then it was out of the jumping season. The defense therefore invited the princess back in the summer to take part in a proper parachute jump from a particularly high height. The princess threw herself from the jumping tower when she visited Rena camp in 2021. When grandmother Queen Sonja spoke when Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s day of authority was celebrated with a gala dinner at the Palace last summer, the queen described “a real tough guy”. – Dear Ingrid, during your 18 years you have shown who you are – and demonstrated several talents: You are fond of water sports. You are good at skiing. You are also happy at school and happy to be with friends and family. You are a real tough guy – who is neither afraid to jump with a parachute nor to speak your mind, said the queen to her grandson then. Whether the princess chooses the Armed Forces after she finishes high school in the summer, as her father and grandfather did, is not yet known. Drove a tank and flew an F-16 When Princess Ingrid Alexandra one day becomes Queen of Norway, she will also become Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Over the past year and a half, she has made several visits to the Norwegian Armed Forces. The visit to the Special Command at Rena in November 2021 was part of the Armed Forces’ confirmation gift to Princess Ingrid Alexandra in 2019. “Dream days” in the Army, Navy and Air Force were the gift from the Armed Forces when the princess turned 18 last January. At the Air Force, the princess became one of the last in Norway to fly the F-16 fighter, before the aircraft type was phased out after 40 years in service for Norway. She controlled the levers herself for parts of the trip. Saw the kingdom from the air. Over Evenes, over “Norway’s national mountain” Stetind – towards Bardufoss, down towards Lofoten and back in the sea areas around Bodø. Here the princess will be one of the last to fly an F-16 in Norway. She tried both tanks and shooting when she visited the Army at Setermoen military camp last October. There she also took part in a sanitation exercise, where she helped evacuate a “wounded” soldier on a stretcher. When the princess visited the Norwegian Navy in the same month, she was among other things in the fast-moving boat Stridsbåt 90, and she herself had the opportunity to steer the vessel, according to Kongehuset.no. Princess Ingrid Alexandra also participated in a sanitation exercise with the Norwegian Navy, and she took part in a navigation exercise on board the corvette KNM Glimt – one of the fastest naval vessels in the world.
