Popular tourist route with several ferry stops – must have a good time – news Nordland

It is holiday time and many people drive the famous Kystriksveien between Steinkjer and Bodø. The road is known for being very beautiful, and earlier this year received unbridled praise from the BBC’s travel expert. But there is no quick way. – Kystriksveien is a journey for the advanced, says Frode Lindberg, in Kystriksveien tourism. It takes much longer than driving the E6, partly due to the many ferry routes. On the way you can, among other things, get sights such as: Small margins Along the actual Fv17 (Kystriksveien) there are 6 ferries. If you choose to drive Fv769 between Namsos and Rørvik, there will be a total of seven. In addition, the ferries come out to the islands on the Helgeland coast if you want to take some detours. For tent tourists Julia Blajan and Clara Buschhaus from Germany, the trip was not quite as expected. This weekend the two were on their way from Lofoten with a course towards Brønnøysund. After taking the ferry from Forøy to Ågskaret in Meløy, they drove a short distance of about 20 minutes, before arriving at the next ferry. When they arrived, the ferry had just left the quay. – I did not believe what I saw, says Blajan. Thus, there was a two-hour wait in the rain on the quay for the two who are on a Norwegian holiday with a rental car and tent. Photo: Synnøve Sundby Fallmyr / news Small margins Tourists react to the fact that the routes do not correspond better with each other. – It should be possible to get there on a national road, with such a short distance between two ferries, so you do not have to wait so long for the next ferry. – We wanted to take Kystriksveien because it is so nice. But we did not know that there was such a small margin to reach the ferries, says Blajan. On board the ferry, the crew confirms that the two ferries do not correspond. NOT LONG QUEUES THIS YEAR: Torkild Torkildsen in Torghatten informs that this summer things have gone smoothly on the ferry front for so long. Photo: Amalie Nygård Jakobsen / news According to the CEO of Torghatten Nord, Torkild Torkildsen, it is not possible to get all the ferries to run together. – When one ferry ride takes ten minutes and the other around an hour, it is impossible to achieve. By the way, Nordland County Municipality is setting up the routes. In a short comment to news, county councilor for transport and infrastructure, Monika Sande, says that they have put in what they can of extra calls and staffing this summer. – There is a large network and a lot of work to make this work. New plan for accommodation For tourists from Germany, the planned overnight stay at the Tourist Association’s cabin in Brønnøy was probably replaced with a rainy night in a tent. They take the delay with a smile, but think there should have been better information. – It was not so easy to find out for us. For example, there could have been info on board the first ferry, says Clara Buschhaus. MUST EXPECT WAIT: If you are going to travel Kystriksveien, you must expect to wait for more than just a ferry. Photo: Olav Breen Travel slowly It is entirely possible to drive the 650-kilometer stretch in two days, but if you want to experience as much as possible along the way, you should set aside up to a week, says travel expert Frode Lindberg. – Kystriksveien is a route you should travel slowly, and make some detours to get experiences on. – Our recommendation is that you, for example, do not travel further than Bodø-Sandnessjøen in one day. He agrees that the information could have been better for the travelers. And especially foreign tourists. You have to be a little local when you use the travel app “Reis Nordland”. – It is not so easy to find out the ferry structure when you do not know what to ask for. There are some things that become more difficult if you are totally unknown. And foreign tourists will struggle more with that than Norwegians.
