Plays 14 hours a day to repeat historic feat in Counter Strike – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– I have sacrificed a lot to get where I am today, says Nygaard to news. From 31 October to 13 November, the Global Offensive CS Championship will be held in Brazil. Nygaard plays for Faze Clan, who are the reigning champions and are ranked as the best CS team in the world. FaZe Clan won the PGL Major Antwerp this spring. Now they will try to defend the title. Photo: Stefan V. Petrescu The reigning champions have had a training camp for nine days, where they have considerably increased their training hours. – “Rain” is extremely dedicated both as a player and outside the game, says Eddie Han, leader of FaZe Clan to news. 14 hours a day Many parents would probably have warned against spending several hours watching the screen, as FaZe Clan does, to avoid “square eyes”. – Healthy or not healthy. That’s what it takes to assert yourself at the top. This sport has developed extremely much in recent years and training and nutrition are fortunately an important part of that, says e-sports commentator Anders “aNdz” Kjær. – We train every weekday and occasionally on Sundays. We have to meet at eleven o’clock at the computer. There, our coach goes through analyzes from the last matches, says the Faze player. SUPERSTARS: “Rain” is by far the best Norwegian CS player. Photo: Cooper Neill / AFP – After the analysis, we have eight hours of training, with only an hour’s break. It’s a lot of fun to have a weekday like that, and I like the job, but of course it’s also exhausting, he says. Nygaard was at a bootcamp in Poland, where he played 12 to 14 hours a day. He said that most of them started to get bored as the days wore on. – We play a lot, and it’s impossible to be more prepared than we are now, grins the superstar. Had to persuade the family One of the most difficult things about becoming a professional in e-sports is getting support from the family – especially when you are working towards that goal as a young person. Putting in many hours in front of the screen on time and off time can present problems at home. – My family has not always been persuaded, and it has not been easy. At the same time, his friends have been annoyed when Nygaard has said no to gambling. Finally he got his parents on his side. – It took some time, but my mother was persuaded after my first payment, he says. LARGE AUDIENCE: Nygaard and Faze Clan received a tremendous reception in Cologne in July. Photo: Krystian Pilawa – Then they realized that it was more possible and they gave me their full support, but before that there wasn’t much support, Nygaard admits. E-sports commentator Kjær knows that in the problem with the family. – It is comparable to other sports where you travel a lot. You can be traveling four months of the year. There is a lot that has to be sacrificed and social things have to be put on hold, he says to news. Receives hate messages After becoming a pro, he has also received many messages in his inbox from furious e-sports fanatics. – You get a lot of hate on social media. Personally, I am not affected by the messages, says Nygaard. It should mainly be about people who place large sums of money on the players. When things don’t go their way, the e-sport star gets to hear it. In the messages, he is singled out as the “weakest link” in Faze. – I know that the messages are like fuel on the fire. It gives me more motivation. GET MOTIVATION: Nygaard says that the hate messages gave him motivation to become MVP, the tournament’s best player, last year. Photo: Krystian Pilawa The big tournament is organized twice in a year. Faze went to the top when they beat Natus Vincere (NAVI) in the final in Antwerp in May. Nygaard thus became the first Norwegian to win this tournament. The winner walks away with a million dollars. – The objective for us is to win again. I have great faith that we can make it happen too. NAVI and Vitality are also two good teams fighting to win, he says.
