– There is hardly any other vital activity where society can be paralyzed for a long time with simple means, warns Vigdis Grønhaug, who is assistant director of the National Insurance Agency (NSM). This is reported by Teknisk Ukeblad. The warning came when Grønhaug spoke to the power industry during NVE’s Energy Days on Thursday. – The power grid is a target for sabotage and malicious acts. The power industry is one of the most valuable things we have, said Grønhaug. She believes that the industry, among other things, must ask itself how many Russians work in the power sector in Norway today, and how much Chinese technology is being used. – We know that Russians work there. They are then an inside threat. They can easily access information about the most important values in the power sector, which can be exploited by Russia. That is the big risk, says Grønhaug to Teknisk Ukeblad. Kristian Markegård, responsible for security in the power supply at NVE, believes on the other hand that Norway has a robustness in the power supply that many would envy. – There is not a single switch that takes out our power system, not even parts of it. We have redundancy, a good network and good preparedness. We have also staffed operational centers that will detect irregularities, said Markegård in his post.
