A person is charged with giving a false explanation to the police, following a report of an assault and rape in Førde on 6 April. The police believe that there was no assault and rape, they write in a press release. In the press release, they write that they have obtained and gone through large amounts of investigative material, and that they have spent large resources on the case. – Since we received the case, the police have started a rather large and comprehensive investigation. We have obtained a lot of investigative material, interviewed over 50 witnesses, obtained video surveillance, telephone data and extensive forensic trace investigations. The collected material has led us to believe that there has not been a rape, says section leader Askel Rødland in the West police district. It was not the woman herself who reported the case to the police. Police prosecutor Merete Sundal confirms that it is the offended woman who is charged in the case. – The accused does not admit criminal guilt, says lawyer Lene Knapstad to news.
