30 October 2023 at 09:35 Church Aid: – People drank salt water in sheer desperation On Sunday, 33 trucks with emergency aid were allowed to enter the Gaza Strip via the border crossing to Egypt. – These are cars that have had the most trouble. Food, water, medicine and medical equipment. This is just a drop in the ocean from the great need that is. This is what Arne Næss-Holm, head of the Church’s Aid for Foreign Affairs, says to news. The UN has previously said that at least 100 more trucks a day with emergency aid are needed to meet the great needs. Church Aid is one of many organizations that has employees inside Gaza. Næss-Holm says they got in touch with their employees on Sunday after leaving without contact. They must be in good condition. – They describe a desperate situation where people drank salt water. They also drank from wells that are suitable for agriculture. Some also take the chance to turn north on the Gaza Strip out of sheer desperation, he says. Israeli military forces have previously asked Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to leave the northern areas.
