On Friday afternoon, a fire started in an apartment on the first floor of an apartment block at Minde in Bergen. The people who live in the apartment that burned got out on their own. But the fire blocked the escape routes to the floors above. On the second floor, two people were standing outside on a balcony. They had to be brought down with a lift, said duty commander Sigurd Hadeland at 110 Vest. According to what news has seen, animals should also have been helped out by the fire service. Eight residents are registered in the block of flats. Everyone has made it down and out and no injuries have been reported. The fire was declared extinguished just before 7 p.m. The extent of the damage is currently unknown. The smoke from the fire spread to the neighboring block, but there was no danger of spread from the fire itself. It was not allowed to drive between Wergeland and Brann Stadion, reported Vegtrafikksentralen West. A little after 6 p.m., the Bybanen is allowed to drive past the fire scene at a slow speed.
