At approximately 20:25 on Thursday evening, a “mayday” came in from a passenger vessel just south of Nakkholmen in the Oslo Fjord. The vessel has run aground at what is called the Raudsekkene south of Nakkholmen in the Inner Oslofjord and has capsized. – They report that they have ground support and have an impact side of approximately 25 degrees, says rescue manager Oddgeir Andersen in the Central Rescue Center South to news. At 20.40 HRS reported that boats had arrived to evacuate the boat. A fire boat, police boat and rescue boat were then in place, and they started to evacuate passengers and crew. It’s very dark here, except for all the flashing blue lights. We are lying in a boat next to it, waiting to see if we will help with the evacuation, says a witness to news. Rolf Nordby, who is a sailor and has worked on the boat for 40 years, says people behave calmly. – People are very calm. They thought this was very sad. The evacuation was very painless, says Nordby. Chairman Laila Andresen of the Norsk Veteranskibsklubb, which owns the vessel, tells news that she has received a message that all is well with the passengers. – Everyone is fine, and there are no injuries. They are now being evacuated in a calm and controlled manner, says Laila Andresen. DS Børøysund has been in several films over the years, among them Max Manus, Jakten på nyresteinen and Berlinerpoplene. In Max Manus, Børøysund was used as a means of transport for Max Manus and his comrades in several scenes. DS Børøysund, pictured here in 2011. The steamship is one of only 15 protected ships in Norway, and received conservation status in 2014. Now we are crossing our fingers that the ship does not suffer extensive damage, and that it is possible to get the ship safely into port.
