A man with a firearm allegedly fired at Khan while he was giving a speech to supporters in Wazirabad. The man who is supposed to have shot Khan was shot and killed on the spot, Khan’s spokesperson told the AFP news agency. The police have reportedly arrested the man who shot the suspected perpetrator. 70-year-old Khan sat as prime minister from 2018 to April this year. He had to resign after a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly. In October, he was banned from the Pakistani National Assembly after being accused of not having told about gifts he received from foreign leaders when he was prime minister. The commission feared that the debts against Khan would intensify the political unrest in the country.
