One person died after a house fire in Valldal in Fjord municipality on Sunnmøre – news Møre og Romsdal – Local news, TV and radio

The deceased has not been identified, but the police believe it is a woman who was reported missing on Sunday evening. The next of kin of the woman have been notified. The woman is said to be in her 40s and lives in Ålesund, according to the police. – She was reported missing in connection with the fire, says police inspector Yngve Skovly. The fire was in a residential building in Valldal, around 90 minutes’ drive from Ålesund. According to the police, it is too early to say anything about the cause of death, but the woman has been sent to Trondheim for an autopsy. The police hope to get a preliminary answer to the autopsy on Tuesday. It was on Monday that the police found remains at the site of the fire. The questioning of the man was gradually interrupted due to the fact that the accused did not feel able to finish. – We will finish as soon as possible, says Skovly. The accused man has previously been convicted, but Skovly cannot say what he should have been punished for. Skovly said that the man is charged with causing a fire which could easily lead to loss of life, section 355 of the Criminal Code. On Tuesday, the police said in a press release that the accused has been remanded in custody until 27 December, with a ban on letters and visits. According to the police, the deceased must have a relationship with the accused in the case. The man’s lawyer, Reidar Andresen, does not wish to comment on anything about the accusation to news. He says they are affected by what has happened. The neighbor himself has been in discussions with the police this afternoon. First reported that there were no casualties The police first reported the fire at 8.24pm on Sunday evening. Then the house caught fire, and it burned down during the evening. The police stated that a man was in the house and that he had got out on his own. – The deceased was found in the fire ruins on Monday, says Skovly. The police further state that the investigations at the scene of the fire are demanding due to the state of the crime scene and that the work will therefore take time. Awaiting answers from the autopsy The cause of the woman’s death is not known, and the police are in full swing with the investigation to get answers to what must have happened. – We continued with witness interviews, and are waiting for answers from the autopsy on Tuesday, which is important, says Skovly. In addition, the police will continue with technical investigations at the fire site.
