According to Greek media, the bridge that collapsed was to be demolished because it was unstable. Two heavy machines were working on the bridge when it collapsed on Sunday. Patras is located on the coast, just over 200 kilometers west of the capital Athens. The collapse occurred in the Proastio area on the road to Athens. Greek media previously reported that two had died in the accident, but according to fire crews on the scene, one person has been confirmed dead.
