Some examples: “Anyone have pictures of hu here?” is asked in a post with a picture of a dressed and smiling young woman with glasses. “Does anyone have a Mega of XX and XX?”. Maga is a file sharing service. In just over a week, five men have replied that they have such photos of the named women. Photos of young women with full name, age, place of residence and photos are requested. One of the most popular threads has 4132 members and several hundred posts. The police are noticing a clear increase in people who make contact in connection with having their name shared in such forums. – It has been especially now in the last few days that we have received a lot of inquiries about this. That’s what Anita Kjønnøy says, head of the online patrol in Trøndelag police district. Panicked A 19-year-old woman from Trøndelag recently experienced having her name posted on a Reddit thread for nude photos. She was shocked when a friend told her that her name was there. – I completely panicked that someone asked for pictures of me. It’s really disgusting to think that there are people out there trying to find nude pictures of me. That’s what the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, says. She is afraid of experiencing the same, after her name was shared in the forum. – Even if there are no nude photos of me, it is stressful if someone sends nude photos and says that it is me and that it is spread everywhere. The woman had her friend report the post to Reddit. The post has been removed, but the 19-year-old has discovered new posts afterwards. – I don’t want my name to be there. Experienced blackmail news has been in contact with several women who have experienced having their name and photos spread on Reddit threads. An anonymous woman experienced her name being spread in nude forums on Reddit and Discord. Pictures were posted there that were supposed to be of the woman, but were someone else. She experienced that a man tried to blackmail her to get more nude photos. The woman has now removed her surname from all social media and is trying to keep as low a profile as possible, to avoid similar experiences in the future. But eventually I felt a discomfort because these people are selling these pictures as “me” and people think it’s me. A woman from Lillehammer has reported blackmail and the spread of nude photos on Reddit, Discord and 4Chan. She had shared the nude photos herself when she was 18. She says that the police dropped the case seven days later. She constantly experiences that photos of her are shared and requested. Tips from girls under the age of 13 The Nettpatruljen in Trøndelag police district has noticed a large increase in the number of inquiries from girls and women who get their name shared on such Reddit threads. In Trøndelag alone, the police have received 10-15 tips in the last couple of days, says Anita Kjønnøy, specialist for the online patrol in Trøndelag police district. The police have spoken to girls as young as 13 who have experienced having their name shared on threads for sharing nude photos. Kjønnøy does not know why the number of inquiries has increased so much in recent days. She says that the girls and women they talk to find it very unpleasant to have their name spread on such pages. – It’s awful to know that their name is on such a page where people can really just go and buy pictures of them, says Kjønnøy.
