NVE has issued a flood warning in Glomma and the Trysilvassdraget – news Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

Landslide, mudslide and flood risk has been issued at yellow level for large parts of Eastern Norway and Trøndelag. A flood warning has also been issued at yellow level for Glomma and the Trysilvassdraget. According to NVE, the risk of flooding will increase during the afternoon on Monday, at the same time that some rainfall has been reported in several places in Eastern Norway. – Rain showers are expected on Monday and Tuesday, and together with a lot of melting snow, this creates a risk of flooding, says Erik Holmquist, who is a flood watcher at NVE. Getting colder Landslide guard in NVE, Ivar Berthling, says there has been as much snow melting in recent days as if it had rained 20 to 30 mm every day in large parts of southern and eastern Norway. – This leads to an increasing risk of landslides, mudslides and flash floods since there is already a high water content in the ground. It is valley areas where there is still a lot of snow on the mountains that are most at risk, says Bertling. In many places, there is three times as much snow as normal for this time of year. A LOT OF SNOW: There is an unusual amount of snow in the mountains in southern Norway and in eastern Norway this year. Photo: Frode Meskau / news It will be significantly colder on Tuesday, and then the risk of avalanches will decrease. – The risk of avalanches appears to be decreasing already on Tuesday as a result of it getting much colder and the snowmelt therefore slowing down, says Bertling. Thunderstorms In addition, local storms with lots of lightning and thunder have been forecast for parts of Eastern Norway on Monday. There is a high probability of a lot of lightning and thunder in the areas of Kongsvinger, Trysil, Lillehammer and Oslo. There will be large local differences in intensity. Some places will not get thunderstorms, says the warning on yr.no. In the warning, people are encouraged to consider the need for preventive measures, such as unplugging electrical appliances, avoiding open plains and large trees and not swimming or bathing. The warning applies on Monday from 12 noon to 9 pm. On the website lyn.met.no you can see where there is lightning.
