18 August 2023 at 14:14 BBC: Nurse found guilty of murdering seven babies The British nurse Lucy Letby has been found guilty of murdering seven infants and attempted murder of six others, the BBC reports. Letby worked in an intensive care unit for premature and sick newborns in need of intensive care, in the north-west of England. The prosecution believes the murders were committed in 2015 and 2016. The 33-year-old woman has, among other things, injected the infants with air and poisoned them with insulin, writes the BBC. All the children were under one year old. Of the seven killed, five were boys and two girls. Two of the boys were brothers from a set of triplets. Letby was acquitted of two counts of attempted murder, and the jury was unable to agree on six other counts of attempted murder. The members sat together for 110 hours. The prosecution has 28 days to decide whether it wants a new trial on the six charges on which the jury could not agree, writes the BBC. The charges include four babies, writes the channel. The deadline is September 15. The case has gone on in Manchester. Letby has a total of 22 charges against him. She denies criminal guilt. (NTB/BBC)
