8 December 2023 at 11:48 NSM director resigns Director Sofie Nystrøm is resigning because the National Security Authority (NSM) has entered into an illegal loan agreement of NOK 200 million, writes the Ministry of Justice in a press release. – This is a serious matter. The Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness will, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, appoint an interim management in NSM, says Minister of Justice and Emergency Preparedness Emilie Enger Mehl in the press release. The ministry writes that they became aware of the loan in November. The matter will be subject to an external review. The Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness will also review its own routines for financial and agency management of NSM and routines for processing lease cases, the press release states. Nystrøm has made the following statement about the matter, writes NTB: – I apologize for what has happened. There are serious violations of the rules, and I take full responsibility for them. I have received information that NSM has had this type of loan agreement since 2014, and NSM has on several occasions been in dialogue with the ministry in advance of entering into the agreement. When I became aware of the breach of the rules, I immediately initiated investigations and measures to correct them, says Nystrøm in a statement.
