Pride is arranged for the very first time on Tynset and now it will still be part of the town party. The municipality turns around after PST yesterday lowered the threat level. – It will be a day where we stand side by side together. And what happened in Oslo we will respond with love. We at Fjellfri are very happy now, says Martin Holmen. The mayor took pride out of the program because she did not want to defy the police’s recommendation to postpone all pride events for security reasons after what happened in Oslo. TRAIN MANAGER: Ina Hyttemoen Haugland thought it was a chaos of recommendations and advice and says they wanted an event anyway. Photo: Private It was not well received. – It is extremely disappointing that the municipality goes ahead with the town party, but cancels pride. The way out of the closet can be even longer than before when it is canceled in this way, said train manager in Fjellfri, Ina Hyttemoen Haugland. Today, a new assessment was made. – PST has removed the advice. We have also had a round with local police who support us, says mayor Myhre Moen. Oslo does not turn around There are big differences around the country in how the situation is handled. Some cancel, others do not. In Oslo, they still choose to refrain from pride events until further notice. But the leader in Oslo Pride encourages people to participate where it is still arranged, such as on Tynset. DO NOT TURN: Head of Oslo Pride, Inger Kristin Haugsevje says they do not want to arrange anything in Oslo now, even though the threat level has been lowered a notch. Photo: MATHIAS MOENE RØD / news – Now it is more important than ever to participate in pride in the village and in the city where you live. Our encouragement is that local communities, friends and allies call on their queer and support what is arranged locally, says Inger Kristin Haugsevje. In Oslo, they are waiting until after the summer holidays. – Like the rest of society, we are happy that the threat level has been reduced, but Oslo Pride will not arrange anything in Oslo now. We will take a summer holiday and then we will discuss the way forward with the queer environment after the holiday, says Haugsevje. A bigger match Ina Hyttemoen Haugland in Fjellfri thinks it was a blissful chaos when the police recommended postponing all events. – We have considered back and forth what we should do. If PST had told us to cancel, it would have been almost easier for us, but they only recommended. It has been a bit of chaos, but we had a plan B, says Ina Haugland. So now the security authorities have scaled down the threat level and the national recommendation to postpone pride events ceases. Mayor Myhre Moen is happy they can now take pride in the program for the town party again. – The mood level dropped a notch when so much of what was supposed to happen was gone, she says. PARTY: Daniel Grindflek, Ina Hyttemoen Haugland, mayor Merete Myhre Moen, Siri Fossum and Martin Holmen are ready for pride and city party. Photo: Privat Og Fjellfri on Tynset is really looking forward to the weekend. They emphasize that this will be a party for the entire mountain region. – We had agreed that pride should be arranged no matter what was decided. We respect the decision of the municipality to cancel. But for us, this is a bigger battle. We must respond with what we can, and it is not weapons, but love, says Martin Holmen.
