The aim on Monday was, among other things, to get the lorry of around 50 tonnes onto land. It has been on the collapsed bridge for a week, but has now been recovered together with the trailer. To get the lorry ashore, the crew had to add mass under the bridge to keep the truck stable. The salvage went well. – This went very well. Here, the contractors have done a good planning job. They started the lorry, the lights came on and they actually drove the last meters out of the bridge, says transport manager in Innlandet county municipality, Aud Riseng. Now it’s time to sit down again to plan the next move. Among other things, the large pillars must come down, she says. In addition, there is still a car left on the bridge, on the west side, to be salvaged. BEFORE AND AFTER: The crew lowered the bridge on which the truck was standing in order to pull the car ashore. Wants opening of E6 by the weekend Parts of Tretten bridge also fell on the main road E6 and closed the road. The plan is to open E6 by the weekend, says Riseng. It will take a few days to remove material from the bridge that collapsed on 15 August. There is also a lot of mass that needs to be removed before the E6 can be opened. RECOVERED: This is what it looks like after the truck has been recovered. Photo: Alexander Nordby / news – We have to take into account that the E6 may also have to be repaired somewhat, before the Swedish Road Administration can open it to traffic, says Riseng. This week, the construction workers will work from 06 in the morning until 10 pm in the evening so that the work will be finished as soon as possible Perhaps there will not be a temporary bridge The county municipality is in the process of looking at the possibilities of building a temporary bridge at Tretten in anticipation of a new one, permanent bridge on county road 254. But Riseng says this is very complicated work. She cannot promise that there will actually be a replacement bridge at Tretten. There will be a meeting on the matter on Tuesday. – We are working on that. We cooperate with the bridge emergency department in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. This is a very complicated piece of work. The bridge we are going to have in place will have to stand for a couple of years, maybe more. Then it must withstand various floods in Lågen. There are many possible alternatives, but we cannot get into the situation where the temporary bridge would be swept away by a flood. – Does that mean that you will not build a temporary bridge? – We hope so, but it is extremely demanding. We are having a meeting tomorrow, so I hope we will see that we can make it happen. RISENG ON NEW BRIDGE: Riseng emphasizes that the situation is different now than when the National Road Administration built a new bridge in 2011-2012. Then the temporary bridge was only supposed to stand for a limited period while the construction of the new bridge took place. Photo: Lars Erik Skrefsrud / news – The new bridge must be planned from the ground up, before the actual construction can begin. Among other things, we must have the necessary permits from the watercourse and environmental protection authorities, and we must have good contact and agreements with landowners who will be affected by the work, says Riseng. TO BE RECOVERED: The lorry that was towed ashore has a full tank of diesel and is loaded with several tonnes of lime. Photo: Alexander Nordby / news Collecting waste in the river The county municipality’s operating contractor, Hafjell Maskin, collects materials from the bridge that is coming into operation down the Lågen. In addition, the county council is looking at the possibility of laying out bilges to collect chips and smaller parts of the bridge. – We do what we can to prevent pollution. Creosote found in some of the wood from the bridge dissolves to a small extent in water, says external environmental coordinator Janicke Haug. – After this first, acute phase, we must make sure that the land and the river are properly cleaned, especially out of consideration for the birdlife in the conservation area, concludes Haug. OVER E6: Traffic has been diverted via Tretten center or highway 3 Østerdalen. It is a goal to be able to reopen the E6 past Tretten in Gudbrandsdalen by the weekend. Photo: Alexander Nordby / news Several bridges closed On 15 August, Thirteen Bridge in Gudbrandsdalen collapsed while a car and a truck were on the bridge, but no one was injured. Traffic has been diverted via Tretten center or highway 3 Østerdalen. The glulam bridge was nearly 150 meters long and 10 meters wide. Several wooden truss bridges are temporarily closed pending the cause of the bridge collapse becoming clear. The temporary bridge that replaces the Moumbekken bridge on national road 22 in Fredrikstad will open to traffic during the next 24 hours. The temporary bridge for Tveit bridge on the E16 in Valdres will open within 48 hours. Moumbekken bridge and Tveit bridge are among the 14 wooden truss bridges that were closed to traffic last week pending answers to why Tretten bridge collapsed. The 14 bridges are closed to car traffic, but are open to pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration provides information on detours as a result of the closed bridges. AUDIENCE: Many people come to see the demolition at Tretten. Photo: Mette Vollan Securing evidence The demolition is a complicated job that has been carefully planned by a number of specialist departments. – The police are still collecting evidence. We have excellent cooperation with all those investigating this. It is important that they get the evidence they need, says Riseng. EVIDENCE: The police secure evidence after the bridge collapse. Photo: Lars Erik Skrefsrud / news It is Grete Aastorp from Sintef who will lead the investigation group after the bridge collapse at Tretten, reports bygg.no. Aastorp is HSE and quality manager at Sintef Energi, and has worked with safety and preparedness for over 25 years.
