The play-off model that was introduced before this year’s season in the Toppserien has been debated, and perhaps the most special outcome of it has come for Kolbotn. On Sunday, the traditional club was relegated, after playing continuously at the top level of Norwegian women’s football since 1995. A 0-3 loss away to TIL 2020 in Tromsø was the nail in the coffin for the team with three league golds at the start of the 2000s. – Everything goes against them. There is snow on the track and Kolbotn’s road is not slippery. It’s sad to see, says news’s football expert Carl-Erik Torp. – It is absolutely incredible the fall that Kolbotn has experienced this year. I cannot understand what has happened. But that’s the system. Kolbotn had everything in their own hands, but then they managed to move down, says Torp. One point away from the championship playoffs In the regular season, they finished in fifth place and were only one point away from making it to the championship playoffs. This despite the fact that they lost the home game against Avaldsnes on a walkover after the home ground Sofiemyr Stadion was not approved for play. In the qualifying play-offs, it has been down after down for Kolbotn. Even before Sunday’s games, they were in last place with two points from five games, and needed points to keep their hopes of staying in the Toppserien alive. Earlier this week, the club chose to replace the coaching staff in an attempt to reverse the trend, but in Sunday’s game away to TIL 2020, there was a big loss. The home team won 3–0 and rose to sixth place, which gives qualification games, while Kolbotn remained top of the table with its two points. Up to TIL 2020, they have four points, and with only one game left, it is therefore clear that they have already moved down. In the winter weather in Tromsø, Sandra Simonsen sent the home team TIL 2020 into the lead in the 21st minute of the match. The scoring was of the slightly strange kind, where the ball suddenly bounced into the lap of Simonsen, who, completely unpressured, had a simple job of placing the ball in the net. And the afternoon got even worse for lost Kolbotn. U-19 national team goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen seemed to be in full control of a cross from the right, but the goalkeeper slipped the ball straight into the legs of Mali Trøan. She found Edit Lund Machlik who doubled the lead for the home team. Ina Birkelund scored the prettiest score of the match, just after the break. Naina Inauen sent a stroked ball to Birkelund, who turned away a player before placing the ball into the crossbar to make the final score 3–0. Avaldsnes needs a win Toppserie team Avaldsnes is also postponed until the last round. The team, which is led by football profile John Arne Riise, lost 1-3 away to Arna-Bjørnar on Sunday. Now must win at home against Røa next Sunday to have a chance to stay, while TIL 2020 will not win away against Lyn. LSK Kvinner and Røa can still change the qualification place that TIL2020 currently holds, while Arna-Bjørnar, Lyn and Åsane are guaranteed play in the Toppserien next season. Åsane has thus secured promotion from the 1st division, where they and TIL 2020 were the best in the basic series. PS! In the championship play-off, Brann secured the series gold after beating Rosenborg 2-1 in Trondheim.
