The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has sent a danger warning at yellow level for snowfall. The warning applies to the night of Saturday, but the morning traffic may also be surprised by snow on the night of Friday. – The danger is greatest on Strynefjellet and north-east to Dovrefjell, says on-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød. A lot of rainfall is expected in Møre and Romsdal and Trøndelag. Here there is a yellow danger warning for both rain and the risk of landslides. The precipitation can come as snow as soon as the mercury approaches zero degrees. It will do so over 1,000 metres. This can cause challenges for those traveling on the road. At least early in the morning. – The precipitation can come as snow and snowstorms, but the tension is whether it will subside, says Granerød and adds: – The ground is warm enough for the snow to melt quickly. It is the intensity that determines whether it will go down. This is how it looks at Strynefjellet no. But on the night of Friday there may be snow. That means allowing for extra time for transport and driving, using the right tires and driving according to the conditions, says Granerød. He adds that snowfall in mid-September is not unusual. – It is completely by the book. The temperature gradually becomes lower throughout the autumn and it is expected that the snow may come as snow in the mountains. Then there will be a period with higher temperatures again and more periods of snow throughout autumn and winter.
