18 December 2023 at 08:06 SSB: Norwegians are spending more and more money on housing Housing is an increasingly large part of Norwegian households’ consumption. More than 36 percent goes to housing. This is shown by Statistics Norway’s consumption survey for 2022. For low-income households, 44 per cent of consumption goes to housing. – This is a significant increase since 2012, and reflects the development in the housing market with strong price growth for housing and increased rental prices, especially in the cities, increases in municipal taxes and the unusually high electricity prices in 2022, says Kristin Egge-Hoveid, senior adviser at Statistics Norway. It has been 10 years since Statistics Norway last conducted such a survey.
