16 May 2023 at 17:22 Danish Giro victory Danish Magnus Cort was the best in the end and won the 10th stage of the Giro d’Italia cycling race. A breakaway trio battled for victory in the end. Cort won the final in a battle against Derek Gee (Israel-Premier) and Jayco rider Alessandro De Marchi. With that, he has taken at least one stage win in all Grand Tour races. The trio had just over two minutes down to the main field on the way down from the summit Passo delle Radici. With ten kilometers to go, the lead had been cut to 45 seconds, but the trio held on and settled for the win between them. Cort was the best there and won. Rain and cold marked the tough stage from Scandiano to the coastal town of Viareggio. The Intermarché team had perhaps the worst day of all in the field on Tuesday. Sven Erik Bystrøm had to enter the years before Tuesday’s stage. Rein Taaramäe had to do the same, while Simone Petilli dropped out during the stage. Russian Aleksander Vlasov (Bora) also had to break on the cold 10th stage. He was the team’s overall candidate and was in seventh place in the summary, which was the place behind Andreas Leknessund after nine stages. DSM rider Leknessund has impressed greatly in this year’s Giro d’Italia, where he cycled for five days in the pink leader’s jersey. (NTB)
