Norwegian professional cyclist with positive doping test – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

One year after Iver Knotten cycled for Norway in the WC, TV 2 reports that the 25-year-old has submitted a positive doping test. – The most important thing for me to get across is that I have not done it, says Knotten to TV 2. The rider, who was supposed to ride for Global 6 United this season, has not participated in a single competition for his Luxembourg-registered team this season. The last time he competed was during the track EC for Norway in January. According to TV 2, the reason is that Knotten had tested positive after the NM in track cycling in December last year. The drug he was taken for must have been Ibutamoren. Ibutamoren is a so-called “growth hormone-releasing factor”, a substance group which, according to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), can be abused to achieve “less body fat, greater muscle mass, and increased strength and stamina”. The substance can, if the athlete is not believed, result in a sentence of up to four years. The substance is prohibited at all times, both in and out of competition.
