The Norwegian contribution consists of a company of up to 150 people. Since 2017, Norway has been part of NATO’s reinforcement force Lithuania, called Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP). The Norwegian forces’ presence in Lithuania has become embarrassing every year since 2017. Both Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram visited the Norwegian forces in Lithuania on Monday ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius. – I am proud of the efforts of the Norwegian forces in Lithuania. Extending the mission while there is war in Europe is a decision we as a government take very seriously. We do it knowing that the task is important and that we have a lot to contribute. By sharing knowledge and experience, they make both the Norwegian Armed Forces and NATO better, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. NATO’s contribution in Lithuania is a total of around 1,600 personnel, and this was reinforced in 2022.
