Norwegian closes bases in Stavanger and Trondheim – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

Norwegian’s management will close the bases in Stavanger and Trondheim to save money. Norwegian pilots and cabin crew are angry and are protesting against the company’s closure of bases in Stavanger and Trondheim. Head of the Norwegian Pilot Union (NPU) Alf Hansen and head of Norwegian Cabin Rene-Charles Gustavsen say the Norwegian management is shutting down without real dialogue with employees. There are approximately 250 employees at these bases who are affected and who have to consider their own future with the company. Of these, 140 are at Stavanger Airport, Sola and 110 at Trondheim Airport, Værnes. – For many, it will mean having to move to Oslo. The question is whether the whole family is ready to move and what consequences it will have, says Gustavsen in Norwegian. 140 employees in Stavanger and 110 in Trondheim may have to find a new job. He says this unfortunately became the only way they could solve the financial problems. – We have not been able to have profitable production to and from these bases. He emphasizes that the base closure means that employees will be offered the same job in Oslo. – All employees will be offered to keep their jobs, but that the production will be moved to Oslo. We understand that it can be demanding for many, says Tuman. 18 extra working days without pay Norwegian’s management has linked the closure of the bases to the collective agreements. They have promised the shop stewards not to close the bases if all employees say they are willing to work 18 more days a year. This without additional salary or other compensation. – This is completely unacceptable shortly after we have agreed with the company on new collective agreements for cabin and pilot employees. We feel that the company has decided to close down and does not want real dialogue, says Hansen in the Nowrergian Pilot Union. Published 09.10.2024, at 11.07 Updated 09.10.2024, at 11.28
