A Norwegian citizen with a background from Cameroon has been arrested by Norwegian police. He is charged with inciting crimes against humanity, and will be produced for remand today. Kripos states in a press release that the man was arrested yesterday, in a planned operation. – We are in an early phase of the investigation, and there are several investigative steps still to be taken, says the person responsible for the prosecution in the case, Anette Berger, police attorney at Kripos. Kripos believes that the target has a central role in an ongoing armed conflict in Cameroon. The man is being held in custody due to the risk of evidence being lost. – Norway has an international responsibility to ensure that we are not a safe haven for persons who commit war crimes or crimes against humanity, says Berger.
