The women’s slalom season started in Finnish Levi on Saturday. The only Norwegian among the first 30, Mina Fürst Holtmann, hooked and drove out halfway through the race. – She gets a little too eager, unfortunately, says Viaplay’s alpine expert Kjetil André Aamodt. Thus it was the worst imaginable start to the slalom season for Holtmann. It went better for Mikaela Shiffrin. She drove a very strong first lap in the Finnish fog and leads. The American is 60 hundredths down on German Lena Duerr in 2nd place and 73 hundredths down on Zrinka Ljutic from Croatia in 3rd place. – It went very well. I am satisfied now. Now it’s about starting with a blank slate in the second round and pressing on, says Shiffrin to Viaplay. There were several Norwegian hopefuls today, but there was no top 30 placing and no second round for either Bianca Bakke Westhoff, Thea Louise Stjernesund, Kristin Lysdahl or Andrine Mårstøl.
