11 February 2023 at 17:09 Norway sends transport aircraft to Turkey The Norwegian Armed Forces are sending a C-130J Hercules transport aircraft to Turkey to assist in the medical evacuation of injured persons and the transport of emergency aid after the powerful earthquake that struck the country, the government writes in a press release. – The destruction in Turkey is enormous, and the situation is critical. Turkey has asked for international help and support. It is important that we contribute where we can in this very difficult situation, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap). The transport plane with crew left Norway on Saturday 11 February, and can be deployed in Turkey quickly. The crew on board consists of both flight operational personnel who have experience from similar operations, and employees and health personnel on standby, writes the government.
