This will have consequences for the security of Norwegian and other international presence in Mali. The government has therefore decided that the Norwegian embassy in Bamako. – There is a great need for stabilization, conflict resolution and development in the Sahel. Climate change and conflict entail major humanitarian needs. At the same time, the framework conditions for international engagement have changed significantly recently. We must therefore follow up our presence in Mali in a different way going forward, says Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt. Mali was subjected to military coups in 2020 and 2021. The military-led transitional government has ended security cooperation with France and the UN. From the new year, Norway will have 95 foreign missions: 77 embassies, 8 consulates general, 9 delegations and 1 representative office.
