15 December 2022 at 10:00 Norges Bank raises the key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points Norges Bank has unanimously decided to raise the key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 2.75 percent. – There is still high activity in the Norwegian economy, and unemployment has remained very low. At the same time, we are now seeing a turnaround in the economy, and higher price growth is contributing to weakened purchasing power for households. Less pressure in the economy will eventually help to dampen price growth, Norges Bank writes in a press release. The further course of the interest rate will depend on the economic development. – The forecasts for the Norwegian economy are more uncertain than normal, but if things go as we now believe, the key interest rate will be around 3 per cent next year, says central bank governor Ida Wolden Bache.
