5 May 2023 at 14:05 NNPF changes name The organization known as the Norwegian Narcotics Police Association (NNPF) changes its name to the Norwegian Narcotics Prevention Association (NNF). It shows an update on their Facebook page. The website of the private association is currently unchanged, but the logo and name have therefore been changed on Facebook. In a press release, the association writes that the association held an extraordinary national meeting on Friday 21 April. Here the name change was adopted. – With the name change, we want to include the entire membership in the association’s name, says the press release. A government-appointed committee recommended the association change its name in January, after presenting a report on the links between the association and the police. Police director Benedicte Bjørnland has also encouraged the association to do this, so that people could better distinguish between the organization and the police. A name change was on the agenda at the time, and had been since before the committee was set up in 2021, leader Oddgeir Høyekvam told news in January. – In this assessment, account has also been taken of the fact that the Norwegian Police Directorate has recommended that police associations remove the word “police” from the name of the association to prevent confusion about formal affiliation with the police, the press release states.
