NM hopes lost two siblings in one year – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– I have been open about the fact that it has been difficult. So there have been times where I have cried in training, but there has been room for that, says Lundekvam to news. The run-up to this year’s NM week has been full of tears and everything else has been easy for the functional fitness athlete. Within a year, she lost two weasels. The one brother passed away last February. ACTIVE: Lundekvam has found a lot of help in training after the difficult year. Photo: Hans Petter Støre – I lost a brother who died of heart failure in February last year, and this year in February, my other brother died of drowning. So training has been important. I have been grateful for the functional fitness environment during this time. It is the place that has felt meaningful. It has filled the days, says Lundekvam. – Meant everything In February 2022, the weasel brother Håvar died after a long illness. One year later, the other weasel brother, Gaute, passed away. – Two weeks after Gaute died, it had been a year since Håvar died. One was 18 (Håvar) and the youngest was 15 (Gaute) and was about to turn 16. NM HOPE: Oda Lundekvam. Photo: Ingrid Heier Jorstad / news Lundekvam says that the brothers thought it was very cool what she was doing, and were very proud of her. – My brothers have always been great supporters for me in crossfit. When I was in Berlin, both were there together to watch and cheer, and at the NM last year, Gaute was there together with the rest of the family. Then Håvar was gone. After Gaute passed away this summer, sports and functional fitness have meant a lot, if not everything, according to Lundekvam – who is one of Norway’s leading athletes in the bone-hard sport. – It’s the only thing I’ve had the energy to do during the day. It gets you up in the morning. It has meant a lot, a lot, she says herself. Lundekvam tells of an enormous gratitude towards the environment in sport and that it has helped with the grief. She has also sought comfort at home in Bergen, where she has visited family. – I have almost only trained and had good people around me. The training has felt very meaningful. There are many days where I haven’t had the energy to train, so I’ve done it anyway. FAMILY: Lundekvam together with the family. Håvar (bottom middle). Photo: Private – Impressed with myself We have to go back five years to find the first time Lundekvam was introduced to the sport in which she will now compete for NM gold. But it was not an over-enthusiastic first meeting. On the contrary. She actually considered turning the door. – I started with crossfit because a friend wanted to try it and here in Bergen it was “bring a friend”, a kind of beginner’s class. Then I entered the door there and it said 100 push-ups on the board. We considered turning the door, but we went ahead and found that they were a lot of fun. After that I was hooked. – Considered turning the door? – We looked at the board and there were a hundred arm hurdles. And we thought “we can’t do this”. I understand that people can be a little frightened, she explains. NM week 2023 NM week 2023 will be held in Trondheim and Stjørdal from 16 to 21 June. You can follow the broadcast on news. Here are all the sports that will take part in this year’s NM week: Rifle, 50 meters Water skiing Disc golf Motorcross Quadcross Enduro Powerlifting Electric floorball 3×3 street basketball Handback Wheelchair rugby Rugby 7s Ultra running Orienteering, sprint Climbing – bouldering, led Cricket Petanque Break and hip hop Sports dance Functional Fitness Watercross Kayak polo NM-veka is a joint event where a number of Norwegian champions are chosen in many sports. Bergensaren first started training for fun. During the NM week in Trondheim this year, it is the third time she has participated in a Norwegian championship. After she moved to Oslo, it is Kristin Holte, who earlier this year was featured in “Meisteren til meistrane”, who has trained her. – I think it’s a lot of fun. NM in 2020 was the first competition and then I got more taste. I started with Mathilde Garnes as coach. Now Lundekvam will compete against his former teacher Garnes during the NM week. That with the weasel brothers in mind. – If I had won a medal this year, it would have meant a little extra, it would have.
