She sits at the front of the row and had her own meeting with King Harald. – Good day. I am Norway’s oldest woman, so there is not much to be proud of, says Nikka humorously as she shakes hands with King Harald. The 105-year-old is probably not the country’s oldest, but there is no doubt that the baker’s wife, who is known around Norway, is one of the oldest in Norway. Grønning also became known around the world when the TV chef, Hairy Bikers from the BBC, made a program about her. Then she was simultaneously invited to the castle to visit the king. She turned that invitation around and instead asked the royal doctors to come to Sunnmøre. – The king is more energetic than I am. It would have been unique if he came to Valldal, she said then. – Then we did it, says King Harald, when he goes round to greet the five who have received the King’s Medal of Merit. She admits that she was a little nervous and excited before going to see the royal doctors, but she thinks it went well. – That was nice. It happened so quickly, says Nikka Myren Grønning.
