20 October 2022 at 18:34 Martin Ødegaard awarded Kniksen’s honorary award Martin Ødegaard (23) is this year’s winner of Kniksen’s honorary award. He gets it after taking big steps as captain of both the national team and Arsenal. The award became known when Norwegian Top Football celebrated its 50th anniversary in Oslo on Thursday evening. Only Erling Braut Haaland was younger than Ødegaard when he received the award in 2020. – I did not expect this. It is a bit surreal and a great honor to receive this award, says Ødegaard in a statement. Kniksen’s honorary award is the highest honor you can receive in Norwegian football. Traditionally, it has gone to people older than Ødegaard, but the jury believes the midfield star fits the criteria well through his international success and position as a role model. – In addition to being one of the world’s leading footballers, Martin Ødegaard is a role model for us all. We can all be proud to have such a player in the world’s toughest league (Premier League) that children and young people all over the world look up to. The respect the player enjoys among everyone is unique, says chairman Cato Haug of Norsk Topfotball on behalf of the jury. (NTB)
