28 October 2022 at 10:00 NHO predicts that we will do Christmas shopping for NOK 124 billion NHO Service and Trade predicts in a new forecast that Norwegians will do Christmas shopping for NOK 124 billion during November and December. In the forecast, the organization predicts that each Norwegian will spend a total of NOK 12,047 in December. It is more than last year, but because the prices have risen, you still get less goods for the money. After two years of growth in the Christmas trade during the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, Christmas trade is expected this year to be more similar to 2019, and a decline for the most industries. The decrease in value is estimated at 2.4 per cent. The reason is, among other things, reduced purchasing power among households, and that the re-opening of society after the pandemic means that consumption will be shifted towards services that people could less likely buy during the Christmas shopping in 2021. This year, it is expected that reduced purchasing power among consumers will mean that more people will start the Christmas shopping during Black week by hunting for good deals. With the exception of groceries and online shopping, a decline in turnover measured in kroner is expected in most industries.
