17 October 2023 at 16:10 Sweden: New underwater cable damaged Sweden’s Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin says at a press conference that a data cable in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Estonia has been damaged. He states that the cable is not broken and that it can still be used. It is not clear what caused the damage, but it happened around the same time as the damage to the gas line and a parallel telecommunications cable between Finland and Estonia earlier in October. Last week, a gas line and data cable in the Gulf of Finland were damaged. There has been speculation whether Russia could be behind the sabotage. (news/NTB)
