New case of smallpox in Oslo – Greater Oslo

Another case of m-pox has been registered in Oslo, the Institute of Public Health informs news. From before, two other cases have already been detected in the capital. – For now, we expect that at least the first two cases come from the same environment and probably have a direct or indirect connection, says the specialist director for monitoring at FHI, Preben Aavitsland. FHI supports the municipality in handling the outbreak, which is of type ll. It was the type of virus that caused a major outbreak in Europe and North America in particular in 2022. People can be tested at their GP, at the Olafia Clinic, hospitals and elsewhere, says Aavitsland. Oslo municipality offers vaccination at its vaccination center in Nydalen.
