The injury to Cecilie Fiskerstrand has given the national team management extra headaches before this summer’s championship. – I think it is a difficult choice. There are three goalkeepers in between, they are Aurora Mikalsen, Guro Pettersen and Sunniva Skoglund. Skoglund has not yet made his debut, while Mikalsen played 90 minutes against Portugal in the Algarve Cup in February. The lack of experience of the goalkeepers makes Torp uneasy. The expert believes he has never seen a similar dilemma before a championship. – It is extremely rare to enter a championship with such a situation. You can quickly stand there with three national team goalkeepers with less than three international matches in total. I think I’ve never heard of that before. – Are you worried about the lack of experience? – Yes, it is an experience you do not have. I have great faith that Sunniva Skoglund can be the goalkeeper who stands there with 150 internationals in 15 years, but she is not there now. I’m concerned about the lack of experience they have at that level. Championship is something other than the top series, says Torp. Vålerenga and Pettersen came out victorious from the duel with Stabæk and Skoglund, but do not want to speculate on who should be Norway’s new number one. – I know that we will be three goalkeepers who will do our very best, and who will back each other all the time. In safe hands It is not known whether Pettersen is ahead, but the most important thing, Torp believes, is that the national team management decides early on who is the preferred choice. – It is about creating security in a vulnerable position. I think it is wise to make that choice early, so that those who participate in the gatherings do not wonder and train without knowing who is one, two and three, Torp explains.
