In a gripping match that held the crowd’s attention from the  start , Mike Maignan emerged as a beacon of hope for the French national team. His spectacular saves early in the game ensured that the Blues didn’t face an uphill battle. He began impressively with a crucial save at just the 78th second, showcasing his  reflexes  and positioning. Five minutes later, he repeated this brilliance with another critical stop. Notably sharp during the game, he displayed his superior skills by attempting to set up a goal for  Kylian Mbappé  with a marvelous long ball (13th minute). However, his performance wasn’t without flaw; a misguided pass down the middle left  Adrien Rabiot  in a sticky situation (54th minute).

• In short… Six saves marked the return of  Magic Mike .

Making his debut as a starter for the national team, Chelsea’s Malo Gusto displayed considerable  poise  throughout the match. Although he took some time to find his footing during the initial thirty minutes, he eventually dominated his direct opponents. His offensive efforts before the break had potential, but he lacked the  precision  necessary for more effective crosses.

Loïc Badé faced a fast-paced German attack early on and struggled to keep up. He was caught out of position as early as the second minute and lacked the sharpness in his interventions. However, he didn’t crumble under pressure. A pivotal intervention against  Nick Woltemade  in the 38th minute reignited his confidence, and he delivered a solid performance thereafter, significantly contributing to France’s improvement in the second period.

Lucas Hernandez continues his quest to regain peak  form . He struggled against the speed of  Karim Adeyemi , often appearing vulnerable in the first half. His performance improved in the second half as he managed to exhibit better control over the game, although an air of uncertainty lingered.

Digne faced a daunting challenge against Adeyemi, exhibiting noticeable  struggles  throughout the match. Despite making a critical interception early on, his overall performance was defined by his inability to utilize his crossing ability effectively.

• In short… Struggling to impact.

After a perplexing start dominated by the Germans’ aggression, Aurélien Tchouaméni shone brightly when it mattered most, providing a brilliant assist to Mbappé. The  Real Madrid  midfielder took control of the match from that point and nearly added another assist shortly after halftime. His defensive work, notably a backtrack on  Niclas Fulkrüg , capped off an impactful performance.

• In short…The impactful Tchouaméni we prefer to see in Blue.

Rabiot’s season highlight seems distant as he struggled, particularly in physical battles—an area where he usually excels. His partnership with Tchouaméni sputtered in the first half against Germany’s  intensity , and he was notably caught off-guard, contributing to their goal-scoring opportunities. Small improvements were observed after the break.

Although Kolo Muani saw potential opportunities open before him, he often faltered in making crucial choices. Missing a key chance during a counterattack, where a pass to Rayan  Cherki  was more viable, he consistently failed to capitalize on his position. While he assisted teammates effectively at times, his efforts seemed too scarce for a starting spot in  Didier Deschamps’  preferred lineup.

Cherki brought dynamism to the team following an electric match against  Spain , demonstrating promise with well-timed passes. However, as the game progressed, he faded and made risky mistakes in possession. His failure to convert a critical opportunity for Mbappé further highlighted his inconsistency, which ultimately confined his impact.

Remained on the pitch until prying  Matteo Guendouzi  came on at the 90th minute.

Thuram struggled to leave a mark comparable to his club form at  Inter Milan . Lacking urgency and assertiveness while donning the blue shirt, he let opportunities slip past unchallenged. Two key misses in the second half symbolized his insufficient contribution, raising questions about his ability to perform on the international stage.

• In short… A fierce competitor in club football but lacking in international swiftness.

Mbappé started off sluggishly, but once he shifted to exploiting space rather than overly forcing plays, he wreaked havoc in the German defense. His goal was a masterpiece of talent, effortlessly outmaneuvering  Joshua Kimmich . Additionally, he set up a clean shot for  Michael Olise  for a potentially significant score. With sharper teammates or a less-stellar  Marc-André ter Stegen , he could have very easily added to his tally.

• In short… When attacking spaces, he shines; when trying to lead, he falters.
