20 July 2024 at 04:29 Nationalist politician shot dead in Ukraine A vocal champion of the Ukrainian language and former member of parliament for a nationalist party has been shot dead in the city of Lviv in the west of the country. On the night of Saturday, the extensive police hunt for the person who shot and killed 60-year-old Iryna Farion in the open street on Friday was still ongoing. The security service SBU is also participating in the hunt for the perpetrator. Farion was taken to hospital, where she died, said Governor Maksym Kozytskyj of the Lviv region. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko writes on Telegram that the investigators’ preliminary hypothesis is that the murder is connected to Farion’s political activity or that the motive is personal. (NTB)
