28 May 2023 at 18:40 Turkey: Heading for a new term for Erdogan Erdogan leads the elections in Turkey with 52.3 percent, reports the Anadolu news agency, with 97 percent of the ballot boxes counted after the polling stations closed at 4 p.m. Norwegian time. The opposition news agency ANKA also shows Erdogan leading, with 93 percent of the ballot boxes counted. The country’s highest electoral authority, which provides the official figures, has counted just over 75 percent of the votes. There, too, Erdogan is likely to win, with 53.4 percent of the vote. A victory gives him five more years in power. Several Turkish media have now reported that Erdogan is the winner of the election. At 19:19 Norwegian time, Erdogan went out and thanked the Turkish people for voting for him.
