A drive that usually takes around seven hours was significantly longer for Frode Utvik and his wife. On Wednesday they were on their way from Ålesund to Kongsvinger, but just before Dovreskogen there was a roadblock. – It took us an hour and a half to drive from Dombås down to Dovreskogen, says Utvik. Can’t do much The reason for the long queues is asphalt work, according to traffic operator in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Arvid Wahlstrøm. – The long queues are largely due to the asphalt having to dry, and that takes some time, he says. – I understand that it is unpopular, but there is not much we can do about it. The roadway in both the north and southbound directions is affected by the work, and there is manual routing on the spot Several kilometers long queue Utvik, which approaches two hours in the queue on the E6, it seems strange that the main road between Austlandet, Møre and Trøndelag is being paved in the middle of the tourist season. He thinks it’s boring to have to stand in a queue for so long, but emphasizes that they don’t need anything. – We are annoyed to put it that way. It is strange that there is asphalt work here in the middle of the tourist season, instead of at night or in September, for example, he says. When news spoke to Utvik, he estimated that the queue was 12–15 kilometers long. – There is a huge queue, he says. Detour via national highway 3 Utvik and his wife ended up in the queue before there was a sign that there was asphalt work further ahead. – Had we known this in advance, we could perhaps have taken a different path, he says. The traffic operator says that you can choose to drive national highway 3 through Østerdalen as a detour from both sides.
