He is in pain, but is awake and conscious. It appears that he is not seriously injured. – What punishment can be applicable for someone who runs away like that? – It depends on what actually happened. And it is up to the prosecution to assess. But you can risk prison, a fine and losing your driver’s license, says operations manager Dahl-Michelsen. – Unacceptable to run away – I felt it in my gut, says regional manager Knut Olav Røssland Nestås in Trygg Trafikk Vestland when he read about the case. – I hope the boy is doing well. On a general basis, I can say that there is a clear duty in section 12 of the Road Traffic Act to check and help in traffic accidents. He cannot say how common it is to rather run away from the city. – You do hear about this from time to time, but I can’t say I’ve seen any figures or an overview of it. In any case, it is completely unacceptable to run away in such situations. Both first aid and practicing securing the scene of an accident are part of the driver’s training, he says.
