“Oppenheimer” is the evening’s big winner with seven Bafta awards, followed by “Poor Things” with five, writes the BBC. The Bafta, or British Academy Film Awards are handed out tonight for the 77th time. Bafta is the British answer to the Oscars. Shortly after the award ceremony began, “Oppenheimer” won its first prize. A short time later, the blockbuster ran away with another award, when Robert Downey Jr. was named best supporting actor.
