More and more rent bunad – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– Not everyone wants to buy bunad, because it is not used that often. Then it’s very good to be able to rent, says Lejla Spahija. This year’s 17 May will be the first time she wears bunad. In the past, she has worn a dress. – Here they have a lot of different things, and you can mix and match. You don’t always have to have what is traditional, says Spahija. She is standing in the showroom of the rental shop ReLi in Stavanger, which is run by Rebecca Ribesen Sjølie, among others. – It is very nice that we can offer something there is a demand for, says Sjølie. This year they are renting out bunaders for the first time in collaboration with Embla Bunader. – We have already rented out half of the bunadas. It shows just how much interest people have in being able to rent. Lejla Spahija will rent bunad until 17 May this year. It will be the first time she celebrates in the national dress. There are incredibly beautiful garments that deserve to be displayed. And now the clothes are not left at the back of the cupboard to the same extent as before. Many rent out their national costume. Rebecca Ribesen offers various bunads for rent. She experiences good interest from people who do not want or cannot own a bunad. Degerfors points out that most of the orders are in connection with 17 May. – In general, renting or borrowing is a very good option when you only need something temporarily. There is so much that is rarely or never used. It’s wasteful and bad for both the environment and your wallet. – It is more appropriate to rent Eivind Holm Nøttveit is one of those who rents out his bunad. Although he will wear his bunad himself on 17 May, he rents it out for confirmations and other ceremonies. Eivind Holm Nøttveit rents out his bunade. Photo: Private – I’ve rented it out for quite a while now. After all, it is a very expensive garment, which you almost never wear. Then someone else can rather be allowed to use it than for it to lie around gathering dust, says Nøttveit. When he rents out, he also gets the bunade insured for up to NOK 30,000. – I think it is more appropriate to rent instead of own. It is very expensive. We cannot live in a throw-away society where everyone must have everything. We actually have to start sharing a little, says Nøttveit.
