The police reported at 10.30pm on Sunday evening that a local woman in her 80s was missing in Øyerfjellet. The woman was on a fishing trip with several others at Lake Lyngen, but got separated from the group on the way back to Bøsetra. The woman from Øyer was reported missing at 21.30 later that evening when she did not turn up at Bøsetra as agreed, says Christan Svarstad, incident leader for the Inland police district. Police, fire brigade, Norwegian rescue dogs and volunteers from the Red Cross were at the scene to search for the woman. – We have been looking for the woman since midnight and there is an ongoing search operation, he said earlier in the day. This made it challenging to get an overview of the large area with demanding terrain. – As of now, ground crews are doing the search. We had a drone and a helicopter in the air last night, but the weather hasn’t cooperated so now the police helicopter is on land at Bøsetra, said Svarstad.
